Greetings from the Land O' the Scots!

Hi!
Greetings from the Land of Scots! Today was a gorgeous day in Edinburgh. We woke up to sun and warm temps(mid 50's). We took the "hop on hop off" bus 'round town and took some great pics of Edinburgh. Hopefully I post them in a day or two.

Rob and I went to a little town called Stirling, about 50 minutes train ride out of Edinburgh. Our family, the Kincaid clan, hailed from Stirlingshire near Camsie. So Rob and I took off on the train 'round noon and because of some unfortunate work on the rails had to jump on bus at Falkirk....yes, that name should ring a bell because of the Falkirk Wheel- that engineering marvel that transports boats from one loch to another...Google it - it's really cool - I spotted it from the train!

The bus ride to Sterling from Falkirk was great- going through Larbert and several other small towns. Stirling was awesome! The town is very old- back to the 1100's with a great castle high on the hill- similar to Edinburgh. John the Bruce built the original castle and there are still some of the original retaining wall left. The castle was huge and towering. There was also a monument to William Wallace, you know, Braveheart! We also had marvelous fish and chips from a stand in town. After a long climb to the top of the hill coming down was fun!
We stopped at a local pub and had a pint. We then ate at a great Italian restaurant...wait, I know what you are thinking...I will tell you about Scottish food in my next blog.....
The train ride back to Edinburgh was quick. I am writing this from the pub beneath my hotel. It is quarter of eleven here so I need to sign off for the day. Much love and remember the world is a small place so get out there and travel!
